Here are the values to use in your domain’s DNS settings to\u00a0configure MX records<\/a>\u00a0for Gmail with G\u00a0Suite. Each record points to a Google mail server. Note important details below about setting mail server\u00a0Priorities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You enter these values at your domain host,\u00a0not<\/em>\u00a0in your Google Admin console.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Some domain hosts use different labels for the name and value fields, and some hosts also require a trailing period at the end of the server name.<\/p>\n

For example: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.<\/p>\n

Once the MX records are configured correctly, we recommend changing the TTL value from 3600 to 86400, which tells servers across the Internet to check every 24 hours for updates to the MX record instead of every hour.\u00a0Learn more<\/a><\/p>\n

Priorities<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0Priority<\/strong>\u00a0column shows the\u00a0relative<\/em>\u00a0priorities of the Google mail servers. Mail is delivered to the server with the highest priority first. If for some reason that server isn’t available, mail is delivered to the server with the next highest priority, and so on through all your the servers. Priority\u00a0values don’t have to be exactly like those\u00a0shown in the table. And in fact,\u00a0different domain hosts have different systems for setting MX record priority.<\/p>\n

Regardless of your domain host’s system for indicating priority,\u00a0ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. must be the top priority record<\/span><\/strong>.<\/div>\n

If your domain host assigns priorities using numbers, choose the lowest number (highest priority) for\u00a0ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.<\/strong>, as shown in the table above. \u00a0If your host uses some other method for assigning priority,\u00a0\u00a0follow that method to designate\u00a0ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.<\/strong>\u00a0as the primary server. If your host allows only one MX record or doesn’t allow ranking, enter\u00a0ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.<\/strong>\u00a0as the only MX\u00a0record.<\/p>\n

Domain verification with an MX record<\/h2>\n

You can also verify your domain for G Suite with an MX record. The G Suite Setup Wizard provides a unique MX record, with a priority of 15, for verification. This record is only available from the Setup Wizard that is encountered right after you sign up for G Suite.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
